International Conference on Governance, Prime Minister Rama Highlights Albania’s Significant Progress in the Use of New Technologies in Services

Today, the International Conference on Governance was held in Tirana. The conference provided an international platform for discussing the challenges and opportunities of governance in a rapidly changing world, new technologies, and the European integration agenda for the Western Balkans, with a special focus on Albania’s perspective in the integration process.
Prime Minister Edi Rama was invited to speak on the discussion panel. He spoke about Albania’s progress on the path of public sector reforms, the important role technology has played in this process, and the development of new digital services for citizens. He also emphasized the importance of cooperation and the exchange of experiences between countries.
“On the one hand, we have the process with the EU, which transcends politics. Technically, though, it is a blessing because it is the only channel through which we can transfer knowledge and learn how institutions should be governed. New technology enables states like ours to take steps that would otherwise be impossible. Just imagine if digital technology were not applicable. How would we be able to offer hundreds of thousands of online services?” Prime Minister Rama emphasized this point while stating that the next objective is to create a public procurement model through artificial intelligence.
“We have made significant progress, and our goal is to create the first European public procurement model driven by artificial intelligence. This model will be entirely AI-driven, ensuring that public procurement is completely transparent and beyond reproach.” Prime Minister said.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of regional cooperation for a shared EU future. “We must work together and build what we want and like. Albania has never before had the opportunity to freely choose with whom to associate. We have been victims of others’ choices. Now, for the first time in history, we have chosen as a state and as a nation to be part of the European Union,” Prime Minister Rama said.
